slightly woozy
I was gonna do a full on shoe-gazer mix until I realized that I didn't want to drag out crates of old CDs in order to find a Slowdive track, and that it wasn't absolutely necessary to include Chapterhouse or the Drop Nineteens, or any other forgotten act from that scene. Nope. It just had to be in "the spirit of" shoe-gaze: fuzzed out, narcotic, and slightly woozy...

That was a really fine mix and a fun listen, E-6. Thanks for putting together and sharing.
ReplyDeleteAnd, off topic, but what happened to you avoiding facebook? Imagine my surprise to notice someone by your name quite active there, befriended of hundreds.
ReplyDeleteYou, sir, are the first person with whom I have ever initiated friendsterhood, or whatever the kids are calling it. I haven't progressed much beyond the facebook stage described to me early on by George Yatchisin, that of being prompted to recognize and acknowledge and then to actually tolerate the ravings of my every hick-assed second cousin three times removed.
Will this show up on facebook?
Will this show up on facebook?
ReplyDeleteNah. I haven't linked to this joint over there yet, and I doubt I will. While I still find the place an enormous waste of time, it can a pretty effective way to communicate (at times) with people. I've enjoyed the "chat" element and have had a few really nice instances of catching up with old friends from way back. (FWIW, I tried to find you and G by scrolling through George's friend list. He's got about 1000. I saw Generik's name--he uses his real one at Flicker, but I couldn't figure out who you were. Glad you "friended" me. I have a feeling we would probably hit it off in the real world, too.)
Glad you liked the music.
I never thought this would actually be posted to facebook, E! That was a rhetorical question. Oh well, hick relatives be damned. I'm pretty sure they already know how I feel about them. The feeling is mutual.
ReplyDeleteNor did I mean to criticize you for joining facebook. I share your ambivalence toward it. (And yes, we'd surely hit it off IRL). I was just surprised to see you appear there. And I'm glad you recognized my real name.
George, yes, he has a problem NOT making friends, that boy! A sad case.
You're a big Brewers fan, right? Hope to see you next Sunday for the NLCS game one.
wv: "weednet"
I figured out you must be Twins fan. Which is just as well.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Twins sure made it hard to be a fan this year, brother. From first to worst. Yeesh.
ReplyDeleteNever got back to you on this. I really liked the opener. Listened to their album, fun and loud. Not sure it's great music, but it evokes a certain mood.
ReplyDeleteAlso, every Yo La Tengo song I have in my library (I believe the current total is 4) has come from the same source. (I'm commenting on that source right now!)
